§ 22-51.9. Prohibited discharges.

No person shall discharge or cause to be discharged to the Town sewer system any of the following described waters or waste:(a)Any gasoline, benzene, naphtha, fuel oil or other flammable or explosive liquid, solid or gas. The lower explosive limit reading on an explosion hazard meter at the point of discharge into the sewer system or at any point in the system shall not exceed 5% for any two successive readings nor 10% for any single reading.(b)Any solid or viscous substance which is capable of causing an obstruction to the flow in the sewers or other interference with the proper operation of the sewerage system, including but not limited to grease, garbage with particles greater than 1/2 inch in any dimension, animal guts or tissues, paunch manure, bones, hair, hides or fleshings, entrails, whole blood, feathers, ashes, cinders, sand, spent lime, stone or marble dust, metal, glass, straw, shavings, grass clippings, rags, spent grains, spent hops, wastepaper, wood, plastics, gas, tar, asphalt residues, residues from refining or processing of fuel or lubricating oil, mud or glass grinding or polishing wastes.(c)Any waters or wastes having a pH lower than five point five (5.5) or higher than nine point zero (9.0) or having any other corrosive property capable of causing damage or hazard to structures, equipment and personnel of the sewerage works.(d)Any waters or wastes containing a toxic or poisonous substance in sufficient quantity to injure or interfere with any sewage treatment process, constitute a hazard to humans or animals or create a hazard in the receiving waters of the sewage treatment plant.(e)Any waters or wastes containing suspended solids of such character and quantity that unusual attention or expense is required to handle such materials at the sewage treatment plant or which causes the effluent limitations of the Town's NPDES permit to be exceeded.(f)Any noxious or malodorous gas or substance capable of creating a public nuisance or of preventing entry into the public sewer for purposes of maintenance and repair.(g)Any sewage which exceeds the limitations set forth in an applicable categorical pretreatment standard.
