§ 7-54. Violations and penalties.

  • (a) 
    Any person who violates any provision of this article may be issued a summons by a police officer and fined $250. In addition thereto, at the time that the summons is issued, such person shall be directed by the officer who issues the summons to pick up and completely remove from any public place, or any private property with prior permission of the legal owner, upon which it is established that such person has deposited litter, all litter deposited thereon by the violator. Such removal shall be completed no later than the 10th day after the summons is issued, including the date of the summons.
    (b) 
    The Police Department shall notify the Zoning Enforcement Officer of the summons and litter removal directive, and the Zoning Enforcement Officer shall monitor the violator's compliance. The Zoning Enforcement Officer shall notify the Police Department of compliance or noncompliance. Neglect or refusal by the violator to remove all such litter by the expiration of the ten-day period shall result in the issuance of another summons and additional fine of $250 for every day that the violator neglects or refuses to completely remove the litter following the expiration of the ten-day period.
